In pdfx4 2016 joboptions

I create a joboption for PDF-export from Indesign. I distribute this to my customers and ask them to use this to create printready files. Thing is - if you doubleclick on this file it will open in acrobat distiller. And in acrobat distiller the settings is changed! Is there a solution to this, maybe a way to lock the file to Indesign only?

Or else this must be corrected by Adobe. I'm not sure why you're worrying about this. This "joboption" schema has been successfully used for the past 20 years. I don't recall this ever having been a problem.

And these days fortunately only a tiny number of users have even heard of Distiller. Distiller would have disappeared a decade ago except for the very small number users who insist on using it in primitive workflows; they would have screamed bloody murder if it had been removed. You should direct your customers how and where to copy the file to and how to properly export the PDF from InDesign. My worry is that my settings is preferred that the Color Management is off and only RGB images are tagged.

Unfortunately I still get PDF files with text and other CMYK objekts tagged with a ICC-profile. When doubleclicking and open the joboptions in distiller - I can see that my settings are changed to "Mark all objects for Color Management". You can see this by checking an object with Output Preview's Object Inspector in AcrobatPro. If placed or pasted CMYK images have embedded profiles that match the document's assigned CMYK profile they will also inspect as DeviceCMYK. The only case where you would get tagged CMYK is when the placed image or object has a conflicting CMYK profile.

But even then you could force DeviceCMYK by setting the document's CMYK color management policy to Preserve Numbers ignore linked profiles when it is created.

Native objects or placed objects with no embedded profiles, get the document's assigned RGB profile. Placed objects with embedded profiles keep their profiles.
